Who we are

LoopandLearn is an Online Community of users of the DIY Loop.  Our website address is: https://www.loopandlearn.org. We are a supplemental document storage site for the FaceBook group Loop and Learn. We are committed to respecting and protecting the privacy rights of our Users and Visitors, and we created this Privacy Policy to give you notice of how your private information will (and will not) be used by us. This Privacy Policy provides information on our policies and procedures regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information we receive from (1) Users who download and use the websites created by users (“Users”), and (2) visitors who simply browse the Site or Apps (“Visitors”).  By using or accessing the Online Community in any manner, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy, and you hereby consent that we will collect, use, and share your information in the following ways.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on the Site. You are advised to consult this policy regularly for any changes.

What personal data do we collect?

Personal Data

While using our Online Community, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you (“Personal Data”). Personal Data may include, but is not limited to:

We may use your Personal Data to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. You may opt out of receiving any, or all, of these communications from us by following the unsubscribe link or the instructions provided in any email we send.

This Usage Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Online Community that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

Tracking & Cookies Data

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Online Community and we hold certain information. If you leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.  An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies are files with a small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device. Other tracking technologies are also used such as beacons, tags and scripts to collect and track information and to improve and analyze our Online Community.  You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Loopandlearn uses the collected data for various purposes:

  • To notify you about changes to our Online Community

Loopandlearn may process your Personal Data because:

Loopandlearn will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. Loopandlearn will also retain Usage Data for internal analysis purposes. Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our Online Community, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer periods.

Loopandlearn aims to take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete or limit the use of your Personal Data.  If you wish to be informed about what Personal Data we hold about you and if you want it to be removed from our systems, please contact us.  In certain circumstances, you have the following data protection rights:

  • Opt-out – You may opt-out of future email communications by following the unsubscribe links in our emails. You may also notify us at admin@loopandlearn.org to be removed from our mailing list.
  • Access – You may access the personal information we have about you by submitting a request to admin@loopandlearn.org.
  • Amend – You may contact us at admin@loopandlearn.org to amend or update your personal information.
  • Forget – In certain situations, you may request that we erase or forget your personal data. To do so, please submit a request to admin@loopandlearn.org.

Please note that we may need to retain certain information for record keeping purposes or to complete transactions, or when required by law.

Service Providers

We may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our Online Community (“Service Providers”) and assist us in analyzing how our Online Community is used.  These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Analytics

We may use third-party Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of our Online Community.

  • Google Analytics Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our Online Community. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network. You can opt-out of having made your activity on the Online Community available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity. Links to Other Sites

Our Online Community may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.  We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

Children’s Privacy

Our Online Community does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 years of age (“Children”).  If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us at admin@loopandlearn.org . If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from Children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.  We will let you know via email if we have your address, and/or a prominent notice on our Online Community, prior to the change becoming effective and update the “effective date” at the top of this Privacy Policy.  You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
