Loop Safety Highlight:
Loop Phone Must Be on Automatic Time

No Time Change 2‌

There have been several instances where a Looper disabled automatic time to change the time on their Loop phone.

One scenario should be enough to convince you not to do this:

  • Glucose is 180 mg/dL (10 mmol/L) when you set time one day ahead (for a game)
  • Later, you return time to automatic and think nothing of it
  • As soon as automatic time is restored, Loop thinks your eventual glucose will be the future value (in this example 180 mg/dL) and attempts to bring you to your correction range
  • Because that future value is "stuck", Loop keeps providing more insulin, which is not really needed

Nightscout Hosting Services: Billing

‌ 320139873_876395370180283_8069121203196988013_n
Thanks to the innovative thinkers in our community that helped identify DIY alternatives to keep our Nightscout sites running (almost) smoothly. We have heard of some Heroku users getting billed for two accounts and wonder what the general experience is among our fellow loopers, who are using the following platforms:
  1. Google Cloud (free or very cheap)
  2. Oracle Cloud (free)
  3. Northflank (free or very cheap)
  4. Azure (free),
  5. Railway app (free or very cheap),
  6. Heroku Hobby ($7) or Eco ($5)
Please check your billing statement or credit card to verify your actual pricing and contribute to our FB Survey Post, linked below. As of this writing, with the exception of some Heroku users getting double billed (or not yet billed), costs seem to be as expected. The Google Cloud Nightscout link below explains how to verify what your pricing should be if you're a GC Nightscout user.
